Brexit FAQ

At Kikkerland, our intention and aim are to make our ordering process as clear, simple and as straight forward as we possibly can do for you. Since 1 January 2021 Customs Declarations will be required for shipments between the European Union and Great Britain (and vice-versa). Although the EU-UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement refers to ‘zero tariffs’ (zero customs duties), this doesn’t replace the need to generate a Customs Declaration and so a Commercial or Pro-forma Invoice is required. This can lead to additional costs for you.

We’ve prepared the below FAQ to cover the most important topics and outline the current order process. If you have additional questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Question – How do I order?

This has remained unchanged. You can continue to order through our web shop yourself here: https://kikkerlandeu.com/

In the categories above you will find the products we sell. Choose a product you would like to purchase by clicking the shopping cart button. Do you want to purchase more than 1 item? Then click on “Continue shopping”. Is your shopping cart filled to your liking? Then choose the desired shipping method and click on “checkout”. Enter your name and address details and choose a payment method. Optionally, you can enter a username and password so that your details are automatically filled in at the next purchase (this is optional). Click on “Next”, check your order and address details. You can also print your order here. Click on “Next” (to pay via iDEAL, PayPal, credit card) and your order is placed.

Question – What has changed since January 1st and do I need to provide additional information to Kikkerland?

We are happy to still be able to ship to the UK, but please beware of the following rules which came in place as a result of Brexit.

All orders valued at more than 135 EUR will attract additional VAT and Import Duty charges during the import to the UK, which need to be paid by the customer. For shipments with a value of less than 135 EUR there are no additional VAT and Import Duty charges. If this customs rule is changed by HMRC (HM Revenues & Customs) we will change this accordingly.

However, be aware that you will be charged for an Import fee charge, a charge which we cannot process during the checkout on our web shop as this is a payment direct to DHL / Transglobal Freight Management Ltd. (mentioned further as Transglobal) for doing the customs release procedure.

For this reason, you have to complete and fill in all necessary contact details, you automatically accept in check out that your email address that you have used for the order will be shared with TransGlobal, to be able to contact you by email afterwards to collect this Import fee charge.

All our orders are shipped with DHL Parcel UK Ltd and in order to release your shipment from Customs we kindly ask you to pay the incurred import fee charges to Transglobal. Once the charges have been paid, your order will be delivered to you within 4-5 working days.

Please be advised that payment should be completed within 14 days as your goods can only be held in the Customs Bonded area for 14 days, thereafter the shipment will automatically be returned to Kikkerland.

In case you have any questions, please contact Trans Global by email at [email protected] or by telephone on +44 1932 778 192. Opening hours are between 09:00 and 17:00 from Monday to Friday.

Question – How long will my order take to be delivered?

Unfortunately, our usual service level of 2-3 working days for delivery is not achievable at this time due to the new customs regulations. Once the import fee charge is paid for, your order will be delivered to you within 4-5 working days.

All orders are still processed, picked and packed at our warehouse within the same time as always. Due to the ongoing congestion and need for additional customs checks and paperwork at the UK’s borders, we cannot give an exact ETA.
